Biennale conference
of
BRAIN INJURED AND FAMILIES / EUROPEAN FEDERATION (BIF)
in cooperation with local and European TBI societies
Traumatic Brain Injury, the most frequent neurological disease and a common challenge for all European countries
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), following the newest research, is the most common neurological disease. Many TBIs are not strong enough to be taken into account for statistics and diagnosis. Consequently TB injured are alone at home and are not integrated in appropriate medical service despite the existing therapeutical possibilities. The number of TBI persons is constantly raising and the personal impact is always difficult to estimate because every single trauma leads to a very individual situation. From a light, neuropsychological to very heavy neurological disability everything is possible. In addition epilepsy, depression, headache need chronic therapy. TBI strongly affects also the caring relatives, the National Health System and social security companies.
Traumatic Brain Injury remains an interdisciplinary challenge for Traumatology, Neurosurgery, Intensive and Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Physical medicine, Neurology, Neurorehabilitation, Social Sciences, Psychology and Psychiatry. The individual situation is to be respected with injured, relatives, European regions and countries. Reaction to stress is different in every person and society and, based on cultural and historical backgrounds, always different solutions are elaborated. The TBI-Challenge.eu was founded 12 years ago to compare these solutions and resulting conclusions and to exchange experience.
In our times also technical and ethnic problems have to be solved to realise and improve individual neurological rehabilitation in an acute and long term process after brain injury.
The conference also shall bring together industries, medicine, therapists, relatives and health system providers to spread and deepen information about existing pharmaceutical and care products and technical devices.
The TBI-Challenge.eu represents a perfect platform to show new products and techniques. All individuals related to TBI, the doctors, therapists, psychologists, nurses and relatives come together at this conference to discuss about new solutions and medical or therapeutical approach. The information achieved will help to improve European treatment and rehabilitation in acute or long term and home care after traumatic brain injury.
I am looking forward to meeting you at the conference and remain with my very best regards
